Learn how innovation, quality and people-first values have shaped our journey. 1990 Vision Founding Vision: Bright A Blind FM Bright A Blind FM was established in 1990 by Jerome Perks and Mike Felt, who spotted a gap in the London commercial property market. At the time, office blinds were often discarded when dirty or worn. They saw a smarter approach: blinds could be refurbished, cleaned, and repaired, delivering both sustainability and cost savings for clients. Early Innovation: uLTRASONIC CLEANING The company quickly stood out with specialist ultrasonic cleaning, carried out in its dedicated St Pancras workshop. This innovative process restored blinds to like-new condition and positioned Bright A Blind as a pioneer in eco-friendly refurbishment. 1990s Innovation 2000s Accreditations Service Expansion & Accreditations As demand grew, Bright A Blind introduced a systematic audit process, helping clients understand which blinds could be refurbished, repaired or replaced.In 2008, the company achieved ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certifications, strengthening its commitment to quality, sustainability and compliance.The same decade saw the introduction of on-site motorised blind maintenance and the launch of annual service plans, ensuring blinds remained in peak condition year after year. BAB Projects In 2018, the company expanded into the Fit Out Industry with the creation of BAB Projects. This division built strong partnerships with architects, specifiers and construction companies.With an additional workshop for in-house manufacturing and a skilled team of estimators, project managers, and CSCS-trained installers, BAB Projects enabled Bright A Blind to deliver large-scale fit-out and refurbishment projects from design through to installation. 2018 New Division 2020 New Division Shade-Space During COVID, Bright A Blind launched Shade-Space, a brand dedicated to outdoor shading solutions. The team retrained to deliver installations for the hospitality sector, helping restaurants and venues adapt to outdoor spaces.In 2022, Shade-Space won the BBSA National Award for Best External Shading Installation, highlighting its excellence and technical expertise. Leadership Growth That same year, Heidi Kleidon joined the Board as Director for Welfare and Employee Engagement, reinforcing the company’s people-first culture and commitment to staff wellbeing. 2022 Growth 2024 Carbon Neutral Carbon Neutral & Industry Recognition In 2024, Bright A Blind achieved Carbon Neutral status, demonstrating its dedication to tackling climate change and operating responsibly.Also in 2024, BAB Projects was recognised as a finalist by the BBSA for Best Large Scale Commercial Shading Installation, showcasing its ability to deliver complex, high-profile projects.
